Life or Death; Blessing or Bitterness

I hope this post finds you all well today.

Went to a Bible study this past Wednesday. We were discussing the power of creation in the spoken word.

This reminded me about Mary the Mother of Jesus. Adam and Eve ate from both the Tree of Life, everyday they were in the garden until that one day of disobedience. They also ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which gave the curse of death.

I said that to say this. They ate of Life and Death. Just as we use the mouth to consume we can use the mouth to defile and murder or create and bless. "Life and Death are both in the tongue. He who delights in it will eat the fruit of it."

Now, the point. Mary had the same power of the tongue. Her name, from the original language in Hebrew, "Marah", means "bitterness." (Remember the story of Ruth. After she lost her husband and both of her sons, Naomi returned with Ruth to Bethlehem.  She changed her name to Marah, because God dealt bitterly with her).

Bitterness could have grown in Mary when she suffered the reproach of her friends and neighbors. She was wrongfully accused after being found with child (of the Holy Ghost) during her time of betrothal to Joseph. Instead, she chose to hide the words and promises of God in her heart. She used her mouth and her body to bless and be Mother to the Lamb of God.

Be careful what you speak in those times of high emotions and stress. Before confronting someone or attending an emotional meeting, ask the Lord to order the meeting; and to order your thoughts and words.

God bless you.
