Early Commune

 Early Commune

"Give me a reason," you say.
"Why should I take the time;
get up from my warm bed of sleep
when the early hours chime?"
I need all the rest I can get.
The day ahead is long.
If I'm not alert and on point
I could do something very wrong!"
The he said, "Am I not your strength
and pure wisdom from above?
Can I not give you power
for the hard tasks you speak of?
Come to me in the early morn
when all's quiet and at rest.
I'll set your mind; ordain your steps.
So, you'll be at your very best.
Should the times of trial come
my strength is there to hold you.
For you've taken the time ahead;
with me you chose to commune."
