Such an Overwhelming Love!
It is so overwhelming the love our Lord has for his creation that he would extend his grace to us; even after such a fall-a display of outright ingratitude and pride. Presumptuous are we to think the only thing we need to enter His kingdom is a few words of acceptance of this grace and love.
It is this grace that lets us even have the desire to worship anything much less the unimaginable God that he is. "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him (John 6:44)."
Many people believe they can pluck his goodness from their surrounding air space like Eve the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil-so conveniently. Yes, he is available; and yes, he loves everyone of us; and yes he wants that relationship with us. Our attitude as a race of people is what I address this morning as we continue into this Christmas season.
This is not negative as many of you have already braced yourselves to receive it. It is actually a positive message to cry out to you. Stop for a few minutes or an hour-whatever! Grab the hand of a loved one by you and thank the Lord of Heaven for such a wonderful gift as his breath in you and that special person with you. Maybe you are alone today. Begin to thank the Lord for the memories, the good ones and the lessons learned from the not-so good ones.
Finally thank him for life and the chance to know him, the One and only God who actually visited this world as one of us. That is enough to be grateful. He wanted us so badly that he became one of us to reach out to us. All of us can find-if we wrap our hearts around that truth-thanksgiving and praise for it. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and his peace surround you this season. Don't leave him out of your celebration!
